Under the direct supervision of the registered pharmacist, and according to state and federal laws, performs a variety of tasks according to policies and procedures. The entry-level role requires the ability to perform mathematical calculations, knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology along with an understanding of the pharmacy dispensing responsibilities necessary to comply with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or GED is required.

Completion of Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) recognized Educational School/Training Program is preferred.

Experience

1 year pharmacy experience is preferred.

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

Licensed or registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of practice is required.

May work in a license pending status for up to 60 days.

Wisconsin Pharmacy Technicians seeking registration may work in a pending status until registration is approved.

IL: Certified Pharmacy Technician achieved within 12 months of hire or enrolled in Doctorate of Pharmacy Program is required.

WI: Certified Pharmacy Technician achieved within 12 months of hire or enrolled in Doctorate of Pharmacy Program is preferred.
